Do You Have a Recommended Resources Page?
A recommended resources page is a page on your site that lists all the resources that you use to run your business, do your services, or that your ideal customer can use to run their business. Honestly, one or both might be useful for most affiliate marketers. Let’s look at possibilities for resource pages and how to create one and keep it updated.
The best way to create a resource page is just to add another page to your site and call it something like “Tools I Use” or “Resources” or name it something that fits what the page will be. Because sometimes the things you use to run your business have nothing to do with your audience, you’ll have to determine what works best for your particular resource page.
- Categorize the Resources – Make it simple for your audience to find what they’re looking for by organizing the resources into categories based on what they need it for. Use words that your audience would use to search for that resource.
- Give a Short Review – Let the reader know what there is to like about the resource or tool. Explain why you like it, how long you’ve used it, and why they’ll like it. The most important aspect is what it does and why the reader will like using it.
- Link to It – Use your affiliate link if you have one or link directly to it. Remember if it’s not an affiliate link to ensure the link opens in a new window so that they can come back to your site and not lose your resource list. Sharing tools and resources that aren’t affiliates along with those that are actually helps build more trust.
- Be Honest – When you are talking about any of the products or solutions on the list, be totally transparent and honest. If you have not used it, explain how you know that it’s good for them. If you have used it, explain why. If there are drawbacks or things you wish worked better, state it. The more honest you are, the better.
- Keep it Updated – When you change your tools, change the list. Explain to them why you changed. One way to accomplish this is via blog posts. For each tool or resource, create a separate blog post for it. On the resource page provide a blurb and a link to the full blog post for it. Then just keep the posts updated.
Once you have finished that, go to each product and find the affiliate link. If they don’t have an affiliate link that’s okay, you can still promote it. Contact the creator and ask them if you can get a referral code or coupon code for your audience or any other perks for yourself and your audience. Remember to let them know how much traffic you get – incentivize them to reward you for promoting them.
