In Email, On Social Media, or Your Website?
As mentioned in our previous post about ROI, another important thing to figure out is where your sales are coming from. You need to know whether you’re getting sales in email, social media, paid ads, your website, or all the above. While you should use all of them, it’s important to understand where your sales happen most. Figuring out what works for your audience is one of the most important ways to ensure that you have a profitable affiliate marketing business.
Email Marketing
Email marketing is your best option for marketing your affiliate products and solutions to your audience. This will require of course that you use a website and social media marketing and other methods to build your email list full of your ideal audience who needs and wants what you are offering to them. Once you build the list, you’ll want to market to them through the list with plenty of information, education, and engaging and actionable content.
Social Media Marketing
More than half of social media participants interact with the brands they like to buy from. Most companies use some form of social media marketing to get the word out about their products and services and to cross-promote their email list through engagement. Plus using paid advertising like Facebook Ads is lucrative and easy to set up. One of the best uses of paid ads on social media is to build your list. Host a free webinar, give away a checklist or template, and get those email addresses to build your email list.
Website Marketing
You have to have a website in order to do everything else. Your website should be considered your storefront and the center of your entire business. HubSpot likes to state that your website is the “hub” of your business. That is a great description. From there you can educate, inform, and engage your audience with the content you choose to share with them. Even here, your job is to get them to your email list where you can market most of your affiliate products more easily to them.
Remember that every marketing channel mentioned here is important for your business to succeed. However, one of the most important is email marketing. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t need an email list anymore. You have to remember that when you build an email list the right way, you own that list. You can move it, you can use it in other places, and you can take it with you when you switch platforms. But you do not own social media. If that platform ends, you will lose your connections.
No matter what anyone else says, the stats don’t lie. Email marketing generates on average between 37 and 42 to 1 ROI. That means that marketers who use email state that for every dollar they spend on email marketing, they earn between 37 and 42 dollars. As the highest converting marketing option for you today, it will pay for you to focus on list building and email marketing, but don’t ignore any of the others.
