Promote a Handful of the Best Affiliate Products and Watch Your Income Grow
Building a high-earning affiliate business from scratch does not mean that you need to promote a lot of products and services to your audience. There is no reason to join a hundred or more affiliate programs. In fact, you should find a handful of solutions for your audience and promote those rather than just promoting anything and everything.
Focus on the Best Affiliate Offers
The main reason is that you want to stay solidly in your niche and avoid confusing your audience with too many offers. The other reason is marketing less correctly will result in a much higher return on investment. It’ll be much easier to do all you need to do for fewer products, and your bottom line will show it.
Another reason is that if you promote too many things on your site, your audience may get confused. Think in terms of offering only one solution per problem, and that should help you avoid all the shiny objects that exist to distract you. Of course, if you do change your mind about the product to use for the problem at hand, it’s important to state so to your public.
Some of the affiliate programs that you join may be just so that you can list your resources but what I’m talking about here are products you’ll spend time actively promoting, much more than making a resource list so don’t count these products in with your foundational resource list. When you are actively promoting, that is a lot more work, although you can automate a lot of it.
Actively Promote Your Best Affiliate Offers
For these products that you want to promote you’re going to write blog posts, create social media content, email content, and so much more. In this case, you’ll want to focus on only a handful of products at a time so you can give them the attention they deserve.
To limit the number of programs you use, you’ll want to set up some criteria for any program you’ll promote. When you have criteria, it’s easier to say no because you’re focused on that criterion instead of following the shiny object. Create your own special checklist so that you know what your criteria are. For example, maybe you want to promote only programs that offer you the opportunity to earn at least $500 per clickthrough. Add whatever criteria that work for you.
Understand the difference between offering information about the software you use or the things you use to run your business as compared to the things you will actively promote. You should be able to monetize almost every single email and every single blog post with a handful of affiliate products. When one of those stops performing, look for something else to bring excitement to your regular promotions as one-time or one-off promotions.
